Morfa Bychan - Black Rock Sands - this is a stunning beach located near Greenacres and can be visited and enjoyed all year round. Don’t be fooled by the name, ‘Black Rock Sands’ this beach is far from dark. This beautiful sandy beach is named after the west side of the beach which is full of rock pools, caves, and headland rock.
Parking and Accessibility: Accessibility to the beach is easy and flat. There is disabled access and public transport nearby. Unlike other beaches here you can park on the beach and enjoy picnics from your car. There are nearby public toilets which include a disabled facility. This location is the perfect opportunity to pack up a tasty picnic, grab some buckets and spades and have a fun filled afternoon out. There are no lifeguards who cover this area. Dog restrictions are in place and only part of the beach allows dogs on it. Please look out for the signage.
Porthmadog Shops and Food - with ice cream and burger vans located near the beach and a park shop selling beach toys, beach clothing and gifts…you can buy and plan when you arrive! Greenacres, Porthmadog has everything that you need for a perfect family day out.
Less than a mile away from the park are a range of fantastic restaurants and takeaway shops. Including but not limited to: Black Rock Sands Café and Shenanigans Bar, Jephanies Pizzeria, Mash and Barrel and Breaktimes. We highly recommend Mash and Barrel’s famous Lasagne with a side of garlic bread!

Once great seaport that is rich in maritime history and the home of the Ffestiniog Railway. With all the majesty of Snowdonia as a backdrop and a coastline with beaches second to none. Also you will find steam railways as Porthmadog is the home to of the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways. Jump on a train at either end of the town and enjoy the mountain scenery. Your kids will love Thomas the Tank Engine.
